Anesthesia Control System

An embedded system is a special-purpose computer system designed to perform a dedicated function.  Since the system is dedicated to specific tasks, design engineers can optimize it, reducing the size and cost of the product. Embedded system comprises of both hardware and software. Embedded technology uses PC or a controller to do the specified task and the programming is done using assembly language programming or embedded C.

Giving the anesthetic drug to the patient is the major important thing during the operation. Its a very sensitive matter too because if the drug injection speed varies means it will makes the patient at critical stage. Hence, there is a continuous monitoring system is needed to execute this. This project "Anesthesia Control System" is used to control the process of given  anesthetic drugs to the patients at proper intervals of time.

Working Principle:

This project is used to  control drug injection speed depending upon the patient’s state. First of all the following things are needed to construct circuit which will monitor and control the anesthetic.
  • Power supply ( To provide power to the micro controller and other components )
  • Temperature sensor  (To measure the temperature )
  • Micro controller  ( To monitor and control  and execute the total concepts)
  • Driver circuit (To drive the motor)
  • Motor assembly (To push the syringe to deliver the drug)
We are using a temperature sensor to senses the temperature and gives corresponding analog voltage to signal conditioning, signal conditioning circuit will give the binary value to the micro controller, ( We can use an inbuilt A/D convertor Micro controllers to get the digital output from the analog values or can use external A/D convertor I.C's for this purpose ) depending upon the binary value given to the controller, it will drive the motor using the driver circuit. Syringe placed in motor will inject the drug to patient based on the patients’ condition.
